Hello everyone !
These are some really cool links to understand the current trend in AI Research.

I see in each subtopic, we are discussing the 'future of AI' in one way or another. Well this pondering over the future has made us ignorant over the present. A phenomenon we don't realise, at this very moment the world is half dependent on AI. From millions of smartphone users, currently giving voice commands to their intelligent assistants on their phones to hundreds of thousands of people currently in the atmosphere, travelling comfortably in airplanes controlled by the Auto pilot in cockpit, we all depend on the AI. The primary reason for this unconsciousness of the importance of AI in our existing every day life is because we usually relate AI with what we see in our favourite sci-fi blockbusters. Robots killing humans, vehicles for intergalactic travel, etc.

My personal interpretation of AI tech is that the whole concept of AI is just a modern modification of basic computational machines of the I age. AI is just a byproduct of Free-radical addition of  hyper complex computational algorithms with large memory storage drives to store millions of results (memorise the mistakes) and compute and interpret in a better way next time.(learning from mistakes)

While billions of dollars are being spent on AI R&D by almost every industry in the world (obviously, except the Dairy and animal husbandry sector ), all of it is harmless.

The only place where  AI may prove out to be a real harm to the humanity and our life sustaining planet, when the scenes of the Sci-fi movies may turn out to be true, when there would be red warm blood on semiconductors and metal.....is WARFARE!!
While resources on net may give you both mild and extreme stands on the topic, I think just like a small equation by Einstein and a little research project at US Army facilities ultimately led to the global production and possession of nuclear weapons at such a large extent that the sole nuclear capabilities of India can vanish the whole Earth!! , the mistake of introducing a new fatal genre of weapons is definitely not a good idea and would unarguably proliferate amongst the Army units of the world.

There were many heated debates and events surrounding the topic. The most historic/interesting of all being the Open Letter (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_Letter_on_Artificial_Intelligence) .

Here are some more links on the subject  covering MIT, Elon Musk and the Future Warfares:-
